A Gentle EFT Tapping Script for Finding Safety in the Present Moment
June 27 is National PTSD Awareness Day, a reminder to gently raise awareness, reduce stigma, and remind those struggling that they are not alone.
Trauma doesn't always look like a single dramatic event.
It can look like years of feeling unheard by your healthcare team. It can look like chronic pain, exhaustion, or anxiety that no one has been able to explain. It can look like caregiving, loss, or simply surviving a season of life that was too much.
At West Holistic Medicine, our team is trained to look beyond symptom management and explore the many factors that may be influencing health, including nutrition, lifestyle, environment, relationships, and nervous system regulation.
Your body remembers. And it deserves to feel safe.
EFT Tapping: A Tool for Coming Home to Yourself
One tool we love sharing with patients is EFT Tapping. It's simple, free, portable, and can be practiced almost anywhere.
Research suggests it can help regulate the nervous system, reduce emotional intensity, and create a felt sense of peace in the present moment.
Below, we shared a short EFT tapping script you can come back to anytime.
You Are Safe Here: A Gentle Tapping practice
Find a comfortable seat. Take one slow breath. No pressure to fix anything right now. Just show up.
Karate Chop Point:
(tap the side of your hand and say the phrases:)
"Even though I've been carrying so much, I'm choosing to be here with myself right now."
"Even though my body has been working overtime to protect me, I honor everything it's trying to do."
"Even if I don't have all the answers yet, I'm open to finding a little peace in this moment."
Round 1
Top of Head — "I've been carrying a lot."
Eyebrow — "More than I sometimes let myself admit."
Side of Eye — "I've spent so much energy trying to figure things out."
Under Eye — "And right now, I just want to feel safe."
Under Nose — "I don't have to solve everything today."
Chin — "I can let my shoulders drop."
Collarbone — "I can choose to soften with my breath in this very moment."
Under Arm — "And right now, that IS enough."
Take a moment to pause and breathe. At what intensity would you rate your stress now?
Next, round two:
Round 2
Top of Head — "In this moment, I can let myself breathe a little deeper."
Eyebrow — "And acknowledge how far I've come."
Side of Eye — "And remind myself that I don't have to carry everything alone."
Under Eye — "Even though my body has been through a lot, it has also carried me through a lot."
Under Nose — "I'm allowed to have small moments of safety."
Chin — "I'm allowed to feel good, even if things aren't perfect."
Collarbone — "Even now."
Under Arm — "There is still room for peace. And joy. And hope. Even if for just this moment."
Take one final moment to pause and reflect. What would you rate your intensity now?
Feel free to repeat each round as needed.
